ABOUT

Meet Koron

Koron J. Wilkerson — friends call him "Rok" — is a Highland Park small business owner, independent filmmaker, and father raising his family on the city's west side.

He owns Jewels of Detroit, a neighborhood gathering space on Woodward Avenue — a Black-owned small business where the community comes together for events, music, and good company.

As an independent filmmaker, Koron co-directed the feature film Situation, telling stories rooted in real life and real neighborhoods. He believes our stories deserve to be told by us — and that the same creativity it takes to build something from nothing is what District 3 needs on the council.

He's running for City Council because the west side deserves better: water bills families can actually afford, vacant lots turned into opportunity instead of eyesores, and a council member who shows up, listens, and answers for how they vote.

"I'm not a politician. I'm your neighbor. And I believe District 3 deserves a council member who works as hard as the people who live here."
ISSUES

What I'll fight for

1

Fair water bills

No family should lose water service over bills the city can't even account for. I'll demand an honest accounting in the city's fight with the water authority, enforce the affordability settlement so it actually protects residents, and fight shutoffs that punish families for City Hall's failures.

2

West-side investment, not sell-offs

Our vacant lots should become side lots for homeowners, community gardens, and youth space — not inventory for speculators. I'll make the city's lot program work for the people who actually live here, and push blight enforcement that cleans up blocks instead of just generating fines.

3

A council that shows up

I'll hold regular office hours right here in District 3, publish how I vote and why, and answer to residents — not insiders. Real transparency, not slogans. When you call your council member, someone should pick up.

District 3 deserves a council member who's present, prepared, and accountable.

This November, the west side has a choice: new energy and real representation, or more of the same. I'm asking for your vote — and I'll earn it every day after.
